FENDER STRATOCASTER 1965

Fender Stratocaster de 1965, en superbe état.

Voici un très bel exemplaire de ce que l’on pourrait considérer comme un modèle de transition entre l’ancien et le nouveau Fender après le rachat du fabricant par CBS, parmi les derniers modèles à porter un numéro de série L. Sortie de l’usine à l’été 1965, soit quelques mois seulement après le changement de direction, la guitare nous parvient telle qu’elle est sortie de l’usine il y a 58 ans, à l’unique exception de son pickguard qui a été remplacé par une plaque correspondant au moins esthétiquement aux plaques en ABS multi-pli montées à partir de 1965.

Autrement, tous les éléments d’origine sont là, à commencer par la belle finition Sunburst 3-tons dite bullseye, au sens où par souci de gain de temps les couleurs successives étaient appliquées à l’aide d’un masque et non plus d’un geste manuel maîtrisé, rendant un résultat plus uniforme d’une guitare à l’autre mais avec moins de fondu entre chaque teinte, des démarcations plus franches évoquant les zones concentriques d’une cible. On retrouve par ailleurs le logo Fender de transition en lettres grasses dorées, les mécaniques Kluson Deluxe double-line, la petite tête typique des Strats de la première époque, trois micros simple bobinage grey-bottom avec le câblage original intact, incrustations dots en perloïd… tous les éléments constituants d’un modèle iconique, avant le basculement progressif vers des instruments d’une toute autre nature.

Expertisée, réglée et préparée par nos soins, l’instrument a été parfaitement optimisé pour le jeu. La guitare est vendue dans un étui Fender récent, tige de vibrato incluse.

Here is a very nice example of what could be considered a transitional model between the old and the new Fender after the takeover of the Fullerton manufacturer by CBS, among the last instruments to carry an L serial number. Release of the factory in the summer of 1965, only a few months after the change in owners, the guitar comes to us as it left the factory 58 years ago, with the sole exception of its pickguard, which has been replaced by a new part matching at least aesthetically the multi-ply ABS plates fitted from 1965.

Other than that, all of the original elements are there, starting with the beautiful bullseye-style Sunburst finish, so called due to that fact that for the sake of saving time, the three colors were applied using a mask and no longer done in by mastered hand movements, giving a more uniform result from one guitar to the next but with less fading between each shade, clearer transitions from yellow to red to black not unlike the concentric zones of a target. We also find the transitional Fender logo in bold golden letters, Kluson Deluxe double-line tuners, the small headstock typical of early-era Strats, three grey-bottom single-coil pickups with the original wiring intact, pearloid dot inlays … all of the elements that make up a iconic model, before the gradual switch to instruments of a wholly different nature.

Fully appraised and professionally set up in our workshop, the instrument has been perfectly optimized for comfortable playing. The guitar is sold in a modern Fender case, tree arm included.
